Yurt Village opens at Sweetwater Creek State Park

Campers at Sweetwater Creek State Park will get a new lodging option starting next week — and fans of “glamping” are going to love this one!

The new “yurt village” officially opens at the Lithia Springs state park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, August 29.

The obvious question, of course — what’s a yurt? Part-tent, part-cabin, yurts are made of wood and fabric and feature comfortable furniture inside, along with electrical outlets and locking doors.

Sweetwater Creek State Park, meanwhile, is a quick drive from Atlanta, and includes a 215-acre reservoir and the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a mill burned during the Civil War.
